Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
The renown conductor Jose Serebrier is presented on this disc in his other role, that of composer. For the most part these are early works of Maestro Serebrier with the "Saxophone Quartet" and "Pequena Musica" (A Little Music) dating from 1955. The "Suite Canina" (Canine Suite) dates from 1957. "George and Muriel" and "Dorothy and Carmine!" are the most recent works dating 1986 and 1991 respectively.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Inspiring Music by a first-class composer   November 22, 2004
This is a recording that contains extremely inspiring music; each of the works is a revelation. The music grows with every performance. There is a great deal of humanity in this music, and the composer's experience as a conductor is an obvious plus.
The latter pieces are puzzling, especially "Dorothy & Carmine!", very enigmatic music indeed. I have heard another version of this work, on Naxos American Classics, with a different orchestra, and both versions are exceptional, if slightly different. Highly recommended recording.
