Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
New York City mad scientist Thomas Truax presents a cinematic and often dreamlike ode to the Moon. Haunting melodies, manic cartoon music and ocean lullabies are brought to life with self-made instruments like his motorized Cadillac Beatspinner and Hornicator as well as gypsy strings, theremin, organ, guitar and toy piano. Hypnotic, adventurous and moonlit, it's a richly rewarding listening experience.

5 out of 5 stars So amazingly wonderful   January 15, 2008
Like Wow front man Thomas Truax's first solo album is so far away from his previous band, that you would hardly recognize the two as having any connection, even though Truax was the mastermind behind both projects.
It is difficult to describe the style of music on this album, because there is no one out there that sounds like Thomas Truax. This may be partially due to the fact that intermixed with the standard instruments are other not-so-standard instruments, some of which Truax invented himself.
This album grabs you from the very beginning, puts you into an artificially induced coma, and allows you to soar/crawl through an amazing dream world.
"Drifter Of The Mind" starts off the album with the words "I took your letter down to the water; I held it under there until it drowned, now I feel better."
This is just one example of the sad, intelligent, humorous man behind the Hornicator and Toy Piano.
From the instrumental mood swings of "Lunar Tic" and "Moon Catatonia" to the subtle revelry of "Full Moon Over Wowtown" and "Escape From The Orphanage"; the half-somber, half-whimsical sounds flow through your ears and take you through the ups and downs of Mr. Truax's psyche.
The journey ends with the fluid-like "Ocean Orphan", which actually brings to mind the gentle moving of waves on a shore. "Carry me, Mother Sea..." he sings as the music fades out, bringing you with it.
You cannot casually listen to this CD. From start to finish, this CD itself is an experience. In one word: genius.

5 out of 5 stars Starry Night   April 21, 2003

If Thomas Truax were a painter instead of a musician he would be Van Gogh and this would be his Starry Night. Like that one's visions this is vibrant, wild, weird, beautiful, touching, and often times more than a bit mad. It is a deep, unique CD and one of the very best CDs I've heard in a long time.
