5 out of 5 stars Myra / Myra   March 8, 2008
I love listening to this Cd, there is a good variety of song styles, fast and slow, mainly up beat. I highly recommend this Cd / Artist.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent CD   June 25, 2006
I really can not believe that this girl didn't become a super famous all-star, because her voice is definitely good enough for it. She has an incredibly strong voice, a great taste of music and an all out excellent album. I really think that she should be a super star, and it's too bad that she didn't make it too far, because she definitely deserves it!
Her songs have great lyrics, good, danceable beats, and great melodies. I really like the sort of mexican style guitar in "Like a Girl In Love." Beautiful stuff.

4 out of 5 stars Great teen pop album--she should've made it past Radio Disney   October 1, 2005

Myra first hit the bubblegum Disney music scene in late 2000 but released her sterling pop debut (the appropriate titled MYRA) in 2001. Her song "Miracles Happen" shown on the soundtrack to the hit-movie The Princess Diaries, and pushed her into the public consciousness (for a brief moment, of course). MYRA is an absolutely amazing teen pop release (songs like opener "Lie," "Candy Boy" and ballady "Wishing on the Same Star" all prove her vocal abilities to persuade) and Myra herself possesses some really strong and powerful vocals for such a young'n. Too bad she never got past the Radio Disney crowd, because she is a talented artist.

4 out of 5 stars ...   January 10, 2005
I think the cd is pretty good. I went to the same elementary and middle school as her. She was a grade above me, but she was always singing, when I was in 7th and she was in 8th she left second semester to start recording her cd. She also tried out for the role as Selena when she was younger, but unfortunatly didn't get the part. I wasn't friends with her, but it was hard not to know who she was. It was pretty cool seeing someone you went to school with come out with a cd. But I'd pick up the cd if I were you. The songs are catchy and they are pretty cool.

4 out of 5 stars Spirited teen pop   December 13, 2003

From Buena Vista, kingdom of bubblegum teen pop hails Myra, a kick butt teen with power pipes. However, her efforts would be put to better use with more songs of her caliber. Most the songs on the disc are predictable, and while catchy, border on overproduced.

Lie, Lie, Lie < Decent start, though the repetitive chorus gets annoying after awhile. Vocals are slick.

Candy Boy < 100% bubblegum. Listenable depending what mood I'm in.

Like A Girl In Love < Cute and edgy, though at the end she begins to bend all the notes like a Christina Aguilera wannabe. Gets annoying to the ear after a while - if she stuck with her clean, normal vocals it'd be a better song.

Miracles Happen < Ah, the song that boosted her popularity! Inspiring with uplifting strings, this is likely the best song on the CD.

Bye-Bye My Love < Somewhat filler-ish.

25 Hours A Day < A pretty, upbeat ballad. One of my favorites.

Wishing on the Same Star < Soulful wailing with heartfelt effort on Myra's part, but the song falls short.

Dancing in the Street < She sounds like she's having a lot of fun here, but for some reason I can't stand this song.

Where You At? < Typical of the album, follows the same mood as the other songs.

Girls Like Boyz < Fun and preppy!

As If > I love her vocals on this song. They're smooth and easy to listen to.

Hanging Up On You > Familiar and predictable. Filler.

Dreams > Hmm ..okay, I guess. Her voice is a little high pitched to match perfectly with the wailing trumpets.

Over all, catchy teen pop, but the songwriting could be better.
