Turina piano chamber music---Trio Parnassus June 8, 2007
Turina's chamber music, elegant, stylish, a sophisticated mix of French and Spanish influences makes its points easily. Each of the pieces is attractive, although, as in the case of Vivaldi, one might feel that's he's written the same piece several times. But the music is highly enjoyable, very skillfully written, and one is grateful to have it.
The performances on this CD are excellent. However, they are muscular and forward moving, and don't leave much room for a touch of romance and nostalgia. No lingering over tender places. All in all, though, very good and perhaps more satisfying over the long run.
