Amazon.com Hayley Westenra's live concert in her native New Zealand treads much of the same ground as other similar programs, including Charlotte Church, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, and Celtic Woman. Drawing heavily from her Pure album, the then-17-year-old covers a gamut of styles. The more classical pieces include "River of Dreams" and "Never Say Goodbye" (which are based on Vivaldi and Ravel, respectively), Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasilierias No. 5, and Carmina Burana's "In Trutina." She sounds beautiful on Enya's "May It Be" from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (which still hasn't been overexposed quite yet), but less successful are the "hipper" attempts into crossover territory, such as the Brightman-esque "Beat of Your Heart" and "Who Painted the Moon Black." Still, it's hard to fault a young artist for trying something different. Guest stars include younger sister Sophie, Teddy Tahu Rhodes (whose heavy voice tends to overpower Westenra's), and groups as diverse as the Te Orowa Maori Dance Group and the Wellington Cathedral Choir. --David Horiuchi

Hayley July 27, 2008 I loved this DVD, and recommend it to everyone who loves music. Seeing her perform live takes her to a new level. My only regret is that she hasn't made any new one's that I know of. I don't hesitate to buy amy of her music. They haven't disappointed me yet. I hope you will like them as well.
Hayley Westenra - Live From New Zealand June 17, 2008 An amazing talent, and her concert is very well produced. I discovered Hayley when she appeared with Celtic Woman. She was wonderful. Now I've discovered her on her own and entrancing the rest of the world with her angelic voice. I heartily recommend this DVD.
Live from New Zealand May 30, 2008 This DVD is exactly what I hoped for -- arrived in perfect condition -- thank you
A great cd April 21, 2008 I would rate the music part of the cd 8 out of 10 only because the acoustics is less than desirable. However, the song selection, and presentation on the instrumentals rates the cd a buy. When you add the additional video presentation about New Zealand the cd becomes a 10.
Remarkable voice March 29, 2008 I initially saw and heard this young lady on Celtic Woman's DVD, A New Journey,at Slane Castle in Ireland...she fit right in with these other talented women and added to the enjoyment of the concert. Haley's DVD provides a variety of song styles that she handles with ease and grace.
