Editorial Reviews:

Description
This recording is presented in a new DVD Audio format: Extended Audio Disc. EADs use the DVD format and are playable on all DVD players. (EADs do NOT play on a CD player). Using DVD as a sound carrier has great advantages over CD. One disc can hold up to four hours of music at full CD quality. This enables the purchase of multi-CD sets on one disc in a slimline, luxury, heavyweight CD dual case, requiring minimal storage space. Additional space on the disc also means that recordings can come with a variety of extra features, including full booklet notes, texts and libretti in multiple languages, interview footage, and graphics, all of which can be viewed on the television screen as the EAD is played. All of these features are immediately accessible through the simple, consumer-friendly on-screen menus. "Best Classics 100" comprising one hundred of the most famous classical pieces, is now available on EAD as a double-disc set featuring a total of 6 hours of music.

Added features:
Dolby Digital stereo sound.
Animated on-screen music backdrop that can be switched on and off.
Fully animated menus with menu audio.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars great audio, not so good video   February 24, 2007

An excellent product from Holland beautifully packaged. The sound is clearly superior to what one gets from CDs, and it packs 8 hours of music on 2 disks. The video part provides enhanced navigation consisting of the ability to play selective tracks or one can chose to play tracks randomly. Track titles are displayed but only for a few seconds, then disappear, which can be very annoying. The choice in visualizations is between on and off, and what it has consists of musical notes floating across the screen. That's basically the whole video part. Very basic. One drawback of the dvd format is that unlike with CDs, you can't download it's content to iTunes. Not without a suitable program that can rip audios off dvds anyway. So having 100 high quality audio tracks on just 2 disks is great, but flexibility of use could have been, and should have been better.
