 Great Meditation CD! April 10, 2008
I was looking for a great meditation CD and Sophia's Chakra Healing Chants truly fits the bill. Running almost an hour, the CD fits a meditation session perfectly.
I was really suprised at the haunting quality of these chants. When I start to feel stressed or frustrated, one of the chants begins to "play" in my head and it calms me down and helps me feel more peaceful. An added benefit is the fact that I can actually FEEL each Chakra responding to the related chant. Calming and relaxing yet energizing at the same time. I've played these chants for friends and they have all said that they can feel the results too. More energy, better mood and tranquility.
The biggest suprise was when my husband walked in while I was listening and after listening for a few minutes, asked if he could borrow the CD so he could listen. I gave him one of the copies I had bought (I ordered 4!) and he started listening to the chants exclusively. He works in a welding plant and talked with a couple of the guys and now they play the CD in the plant! I told him what the chants were for and he said he didn't care, they calm him down and make him feel good and that's all that matters.
If you're looking for a good meditation CD that will leave you feeling great, this is a must for your library!

If new age synthesizer recordings are your thing then you might like this. Personally I much prefer leaving the synthesizer out of it, and using natural acoustic instruments.
Just my 2 cents.
But hey, some seem to love it and I'm sure the synth player has every good intention. It's just not my cup of tea. Try Jonathan Goldman's stuff.

I purchased this CD after hearing one of her songs on a compilation CD. It's a beautiful combination of vocals and soothing music. Very relaxing to listen to in the car or while meditating. I liked it so much I bought one for my sister.

One recent overcast, dark winter day I knew I had to go visit the ocean to recharge my batteries. I was drawn into a shop in Rockport, Massachusetts owned and operated by a true Earth Mother. A chant was gently playing "Gaia
Shekhinah Nama Om" which soon I began to hum gently to myself and then chanted along softly. I knew this chant for Mother Earth would heal me and that I had to return the favor. Has there ever been a time in which Mother Earth was in greater need of acknowledgment and praise??? Needless to say, I immediately purchased the cd for later enjoyment at home where I discovered the last track "The Beginning" contained a delicious chant to Ganesha, the Hindu god who is invoked prior to access to his father Shiva and also at the beginning of any trip, enterprise or any other situation in which one may wish to remove all obstacles and stumbling blocks. As a Reiki
practitioner with a Somatron vibroacoustic table, I saw this a great tool for my healing arsenal.

As so many other reviewers have said, this CD is amazingly beautiful! My preference was initially track four (the heart chakra). However, over time, I have come to appreciate every one of the tracks, each of which mirrors its chakra--from the deeply resonant first track to the ethereal final track. Every time I listen to it, I hear and appreciate something new. I play this CD at home during morning yoga, in my car driving to and from work, and even while having some minor surgery done (it actually soothed the pain and gave me an anchor to focus on). It calms and heals even as it energizes and lifts the spirit.
