4 out of 5 stars A Magnificent Collection!   August 3, 2000

The performances by Herbert von Karajan never cease to enthrall me. This tremendous collection of various composers and the adagios selected therein result in a never-ending source of delight at every playing. If I had this in vinyl form, it would be worn out by now. I am of the opinion that Herbert von Karajan raised the level of BPO to superlative degree. The performance of Martin Schwabbe speaks volumes of his prowess. The DG label enhances the quality, as always. I have no hesitation in recommending this CD to seasoned and fresh enthusiasts of classical music.
