A great way to welcome the new year January 4, 2006

It has been traditional for the Viennese to celebrate the New Year with a Strauss concert. After all, Johann Strauss, Jr. was born on New Year's day.
Salute to Vienna now performs in quite a few cities on or near New Year's day. And it includes guest artists from the operatic world! We hear selections by Strauss, Lehar, Kalman, and others.
No New Year's concert would be complete without encores of the Blue Danube Waltz and the Radetzky March, and sure enough, these works conclude this fine disc.
