Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Lost & Found-Treasures Of The Heifetz Legacy contains 20 transcriptions previously unrecorded by Jascha Heifetz. It is fitting that Miss Kloss plays the Heifetz-Tononi Violin willed to her by her mentor, which is heard here in recording for the first time since the Master made his legendary Victor recordings some 80 years ago. Mr. Westcott plays his own Mason Hamlin model BB (7ft.) Grand Piano, made in Boston (1930), chosen for its qualities of warmth and clarity which blended perfectly with the Heifetz-Tononi.

1 out of 5 stars Heifetz caricatured   July 27, 2006

For fun, for laughs, listen to this ... but know that finally you will spill a tear. What did Heifetz do to deserve this caricature???

2 out of 5 stars some things should stay lost   June 23, 2004

It isn't difficult to see why Heifetz avoided recording many of these transcriptions. Why was it so important that Ms. Kloss record the banal Gluck "Sonata", the painfully awful Debussy "La Puerta del Vino" (in which she sounds like an 8 year old during her first recital), and the ghastly Ravel "Forlane"? Compounding my displeasure was Ms. Kloss' overly harsh tone throughout this program. The Master would not be pleased.

5 out of 5 stars Sherry Kloss--Heifetz Reborn!   April 30, 2003

Sherry Kloss, Jascha Heifetz' right arm during his teaching years, brings wonderful echos of the masterful Heifetz playing. The elegance, taste, nuance, and wonderful energy of Heifetz come through clearly in Ms. Kloss'playing. The miniatures that Heifetz gave the musical world are here in their glory. How many violinists, both professional and amateur were brought to their trade or hobby from an early love of such transcriptions?
Although brief in length, these pieces require as much, if not more pure musicality than many of the larger forms.
