Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
The greatest Marvin Gaye record never made, from the multi-instrumentalist who began musical life playing in The Edgar Broughton Band. Shades of The Beach Boys, Joe Meek and Pigeonhed, prog rock and psychedelia are all present here. The secret is to stop trying to figure it out and just enjoy. 1996 release. Standard jewel case.

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING!   June 18, 2008
This CD is utterly amazing, I'm just mad I am over 10 years late hearing it. This just proves the talent is over seas. I came across Lewis Taylor because Aaliyah (see MTV stripped on Aaliyah, check Youtube) was speaking of his music in an interview in 2000/2001 and raved over "Bittersweet". I found it and I must agree this song is perfect from beginning to end! The album is very great. Check out Lewis II as well. This cd is definitely a good buy. Big props to Aaliyah for pointing me in this direction!

5 out of 5 stars This is all that's right about music   May 4, 2008
Also first time to write a review on Amazon and a music industry professional from LA, I just wanted to mention that this album is truly incredible. I've had it for many years, bought several copies because I lost them or for the purpose as gifts for friends and it has remained to be my favorite if I really had to pick one single album. Rumor has it that Mr Taylor retired from making music, which is an unbelievable shame, since this man has talents like I've never seen and never heard before, both in their width of varying skills as well as in the depth of these skills. If there's one album I could recommend to anyone, it would be this one; it's an exceptional work of art. Do music a favor and buy it, maybe it'll help bringing Mr Taylor back to the musically active; music needs him.

5 out of 5 stars Lewis Taylor Is A Genius!   February 28, 2007
Lewis is one of my favorite artists. This album is amazing & I plan on recommending it to everyone! It's such a shame that the music industry didn't recognize his talent while they had the chance.

4 out of 5 stars So darn funky   January 10, 2007
I just discovered Lewis in the past month or so, thanks to Yahoo music. As a person who grew up singing, but has let that talent die as "real life" has slowly crept in, Lewis stirs up in me what I've always loved music for. His tight harmonies, complex thumpin bass rifts and complexity of his rhythms are nothing short of amazing. Favorite songs on this CD: Bittersweet and Whoever.

4 out of 5 stars Amazingly gift   July 16, 2006

Lewis Taylor is really an amazing "white guy." I thoroughly enjoy his arrangement of sounds and vocals. His lyrical content is what's missing from a lot of our current talent options on heavy rotation radio. I highly recommend this album for anyone looking for a sound ride.
