Product Description Korg tuners and metronomes are acclaimed for their extremely high accuracy and superb features. Korg TM-40 combines these two functions into a single compact easy-to-use unit. A great lesson and practice tool, the TM-40 offers both tuner and metronome functions simultaneously or independently in a handheld unit that you can carry everywhere. Its large LCD-type needle delivers both the accuracy of an LCD and the excellent visibility of a needle indicator. It also has LED indicators that show pitch deviation or blink to indicate the tempo, making the TM-40 a highly visual tool. The TM-40's Calibration setting is adjustable in a range of 410~480 Hz to accommodate a variety of tuning standards. The calibration can be adjusted in 1 Hz steps, letting you accurately tune to any song or key. Memory backup is also provided so that the Calibration and Sound Out (?12 NOTES? or ?ABb?) settings are remembered even when the power is turned off. When intervals of a third are played out of tune in the context of a brass band, orchestra, or other ensemble, it is particularly noticeable. But those intervals can be made to blend more pleasantly by slightly adjusting them (relative to the equal-tempered pitch) to a pure major or minor third. The TM-40's meter scale provides markings to indicate pitches of a pure major and pure minor third relative to a selected pitch. By tuning your instrument so that the meter's indicator needle points to these markings, you can ensure beautiful harmonies when playing in an ensemble. This capability is very useful not only for wind instruments, but also for vocal or a cappella practice. The metronome section offers convenient functions for practicing a variety of music. Beat mode - choose from preset patterns. Beat mode lets you choose a preset tempo and time signature, and Tap mode lets you specify your own tempo. It contains a large speaker that produces a clear and distinct metronome s

Great for Students July 6, 2008 As a music teacher, I purchase the KORG Metronome/Tuner for my top two students each year. This is a great item for band students during the early years, because not only does it provide the metronome for practicing a steady beat, but the tuner helps students begin to hear when they are out of tune. This is an excellent item to purchase to encourage your son or daughter to practice.
Great compact tuner & metronome June 19, 2008 I have several tuners and an old electronic metronome that requires a nine volt battery. The metronome, however, would still draw current when turned off so I purchased your Korg TM-40. This combination tuner/metronome is efficient using triple A's and nice and compact for a shirt pocket. I particularly like the LCD screen. My only problem is the metronome jumps in beats per minute - not covering all possible rhythms speeds. However, this is really not a problem. The unusual rhythm combinations is superb!
Great June 2, 2008 It does its job and has a little stand on the back to help prop it up.
Excelent product June 2, 2008 Excelent product! I recommend it! I had a Korg CA-30 Chromatic Tuner, which is also an excelent product, but I needed a metronome for my studies and decided to go for this one. The Tuner funcion is exactly like my CA-30, with a very good precision. And the metronome function is also great and very easy to use. And you can select the volume of the sound as you want! Unfortunately, it does not fit in the accessory room inside my guitar case...
Great Tuner May 21, 2008 A really nice tuner, with unlimited capabilities. Unfortunately the user manul is very poorly written, you have to experiment to learn its features. I was really after a tuner to tune my guitar to Eb tuning, the tuner recognise the each note played and display it. To do a Eb you need to gradually losen the string a the needle move to the left from E it reached the the limit at the left side of the display then starts from the right side and this time display shows Eb, you continue to losen the string until it centers. What I discribed here was low E string, the procedures is the same for onther strings. What is great about this tuner is that you don't have to set a selector for each string, the tuner automatically know where you are. Metronome works great. There is a lot more to discover with this tuner. The best tuner I have ever had.
