Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The GA-40 is a dedicated, easy-to-operate guitar/bass tuner with automatic pitch detection. In Guitar mode it supports seven-string guitars (7B through 1E), and in Bass mode it supports six-string basses (Low-B and Hi-C). With the precision you expect from KORG, the GA-40 indicates the pitch quickly and accurately. The LCD needle-style display provides both the accuracy of an LCD as well as the easy viewing of a needle indicator, and the display has been enlarged for even better visibility. You can also use the built-in high-sensitivity microphone to tune an acoustic guitar.

5 out of 5 stars This is great to own   July 12, 2008
I love having this tuner. It is such a relief to have it to do a quick tune and not have to soley rely on my ear. This is especially great when you are in a pressured situation to tune fast!

5 out of 5 stars A Gift!   June 16, 2008
Honestly, I've never been able to tune a guitar with complete confidence.....until now. I'm glad to have it!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent tool!   June 9, 2008
I bought this primarily for my son who is learning guitar and then I ended up picking up the guitar as well and have used it myself. We both have found this tuner to be very easy to use and it does exactly what we need it to do.

We've had it long enough now where we've learned that as long as you put in fresh batteries before the old ones get really low, this tuner will do the job.

Whether you plug in directly or use the built-in mic to tune, this unit is easy to use and the display is easy to read, making the whole tuning process quite pleasurable.

You'll be happy with this tuner.

You ever try to tune a guitar by ear? Well, this makes it a whole lot easier. An absolute must for the beginning guitar player.

Korg makes fantastic tuners. I used the GA-30 a lot before picking up this model. Both are fantastic. If you need your tuner to operate in-line, then this is a great choice. If you don't care that much, or really don't plan on using it in-line, just go for the GA-30. If you want to use a lot of non-standard tuning, I suggest model CA-30 or CA-40, both of which are chromatic tuners. They can tune to any of the 12 pitches across any octave (so far as I can tell). They don't include presets for Guitar or Bass, though, so you need to know which notes to be tuning yourself.

It is cheap enough for you to give it a try.
