Extraordinary!!! August 19, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Do not dismiss this extraordinary CD at first glance when you see the word "banjo". Bela Fleck's unbelievable talent has brought this instrument into a whole other realm! The pieces are all classicl adaptations with avaiety of instruments incuding mandolin, guitar, violin, marimba and double bass. Accompanying artists include Edgar Meyer, John Williams and Bryan Sutton. The music can be appreciated on so many levels for its beauty, technicality and uniqeness.Bela Fleck is awesome and this CD is atreasure!!

I remember once reading some snob reviewer discussing music - in which he states there are 3 un-listenable instruments: the banjo, the bagpipes, and accordion(?). All instruments I love. Let him listen to this. This CD is great. Fleck's accompanist are wonderful. His banjo has so many tones!
Time well spent. May 16, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As an admirer of all types of great music, I enjoy this album as a long-time bluegrass lover and a burgeoning classical music fan. This is a must for your collection!
  Sha-zam! Don't hesitate - fanTAStic! September 27, 2004 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've long grown a bit tired of the sound of the Flecktones, a fantastic and wonderful and upbeat and original sound that simply wasn't branching out from its perfectly fine and unique space despite a number of albums. And even Bela's solo efforts were stagnating a bit, imo, despite the plethora of studio guests.
But, man oh man, this is something indeed! Really wonderful pieces, presented in creative ways, by some incredible talents. Forgiving some sound quality concerns, this is flawless!
