4 out of 5 stars Track at the end   May 31, 2005

In response to J. Greene, the track at the end is Boccherini's La Musica Nottruna del Strade Di Madrid, fourth movement (Passacalle). Got this from the end credits and searching Amazon and iTunes.

5 out of 5 stars An enjoyable and authentic soundtrack   January 17, 2005

Filled with original movie score, beautiful classical music and authentic period pieces, Master & Commander is one of the best soundtracks from 2003. Although there were several better original scores, Master & Commander is a classic soundtrack. Especially beautiful are the cello and violen renditions that show up in the movie. Another great strength of this cd is that it is very authentic in its music. I was in Colonial Williamsburg recently and the music performed there was very similar to the Master and COmmander soundtrack. The authenticuty makes it a great soundtrack.

It is good to have a soundtrack of diverse music as on this CD. It is very enjoyable. I put it on when I am doing work on my PC. It really creates the background mood in your subconscious.

5 out of 5 stars A SPLENDID COMBINATION OF CONTEMPORARY AND CLASSICAL!   December 26, 2004

The soundtrack for MASTER AND COMMANDER is simply splendid! Contemporary compositions made for the movie are absolutely wonderful and complement beautifully the classical offerings featured in the movie that include Mozart's Violin Concerto, No. 3: "Strassburg" K. 216, 3rd Movement, The Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Corelli's Adagio from Concerto Grosso Op. 6, No. 8 in G Minor: Christmas Concerto and J. S. Bach's Prelude (From the Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007) performed by Yo-Yo Ma.

One might expect a movie like this to be filled with heavy music to carry war scenes characterized by cannon fire and death. Instead what you will find here is a wonderful collection of musical moods that range from the light and airy to the the solemn and serious.
