5 out of 5 stars Why Not Classical ?   July 7, 1999

I almost didn't buy this CD because of Gwendolyn Freed's terrible review. Kids don't care if the entire piece is presented, nor do they have snobbish opinions as to the quality of the orchestra. My kids love this CD. My 3 yr old pretends to conduct and my 8 month old gets a kick out of the whole experience. This in turn creates enjoyment for the whole family. All I care about is instilling a love for all kinds of music in my children. They listen to blues, jazz, classical, all different kinds of rock. They can refine or "snobberize" their tastes later. For now, the important thing is exposure; this CD is wonderful for serving that purpose!!!

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous! We don't even have children!!   May 1, 1999

I heard this CD while babysitting one day and I fell in love with it! I have always been a fan of Mozart, but there are so many selections when I go to buy CD's that I could not get the exact match of the compositions that I liked. This is a great CD for anyone. When we have our own children we'll be well prepared.

3 out of 5 stars Don't stop here!   March 28, 1999

There is a love/hate relationship among classical music lovers concerning the "highlight" CDs. One could argue that Mozart did not intend to have his music put sliced up and marketed to infants, but you could also argue that he did what had to be done to pay the bills. Regardless, some points must be made:

** Don't stop here! ** Get complete pieces by Mozart. ** Get works by other composers such as Liszt, Beethoven, Bach, or even Stavinsky. ** Don't get classical CDs just for your baby, get them for yourself, too! ** The reason your baby enjoys classical music is because it is GREAT MUSIC! ** Your baby has not been conditioned to think classical music is boring or difficult. ** You should be equally open minded. ** You are an adult and can do what you want. ** There is an entire world of truly remarkable classical music waiting for you!

Happy Listening!

5 out of 5 stars This is a terrific compilation!   November 4, 1998

I'm not familiar with classical music, but this album is terrific. We use it with our 11 month-old son, and he seems to really enjoy it. As to whether it is really "building his brain," I can't say. I just know that he seems to relax and focus better now that he's being exposed to this music regularly. Soothing and well-produced, I think you'll find this album is easy on everyone in the family (much easier on Dad than a "Barney" album, for example). And at this price, you won't be sorry!
