Takes My Breath Away February 11, 2006 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This Disc is merely further proof of what the world already knows. Yo Yo Ma was in fact born to play the Cello, it is simply fantastic. It is a must own for me, It feels the air around you with such wonderful tones. Although some classical snobs might complain that this is nothing more than a pseudo Classical album, who cares. They should find the nearest emergency room and have someone remove the poles from thier *sses. No apologizes are needed hear, this disc is all that it needs to be, which is absolutely magnificient.......

A little Dull January 24, 2005 4 out of 13 found this review helpful
I had the luck to see Yo Yo Ma live in concert, it was so fantastic, I went out and bought this album. But the joys of a live concert sometimes don't make it over to the album, which sounded dull, it makes good back ground noise but it doesn't hold your attention.
Good cd - - BY YO-YO MA July 23, 2004 In case you were wondering - this is by Yo-Yo Ma - the famous classical Cellist. Playing with many "special guests" Not my style but a lot of friends really like this one. THIS IS THE SACD VERSION - won't play on regular cd players.

Versatile YoYo Goes Brazilian April 13, 2004 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
As liner notes declare, "many musicians, from Arthur Rubinstein to MIles Davis, to fas under the spell of Brazil's seductive sounds." YoYo brings his cello to a group of talented Brazilian artists for this collection of ecclectic snapshots of this blended music of jazz, ragtime, samba, etc. Love the clarinet sounds of D'Rivera and the great guitar and who can not like the percussion of this vibrant culture. Ma continues to explore and venture out musically, ala Appalachian recordings, Silk Road journeys, baroque, etc. He is so talented and his intoxicating cello adds much here, yet never overpowering or smothering his talented musicians which surround him. This is joyous, celebrative music!
