5 out of 5 stars Sweet strings to make love to   September 15, 2007

I first heard Lucia on a CD of Josh Groban. I immediately was sold on her talent and ability to speak with the instrument. Lyrical, beautiful, talented. A wonderful CD.

Lucia Micarelli is not a background musician. Her playing deserves an attentive audience even if it is an audience of one. This is the first time I have listened to her playing and found this CD very reflective. She digs deep within herself for each piece and I found myself being stroked and plucked into the same mood of emotions. Some of the pieces are more special than others (most I have never heard before - that's a plus, not a minus) but found 'My Funny Valentine' the most emotional of all. How she managed to bring that sad sound into her playing I can only put down to her absolute involvement with the song. To me 'My Funny Valentine' was of a "lost" love who was still very much living in her (and my) heart. Bravo Miss Micarelli!! I did 'listen' and love the way you 'speak'. I would have loved to have heard more of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' though.

This is one of my favorite CDs in my collection. I saw her play in person, and Live is much, much better then the CD.

I heard Lucia Micarelli during a 2007 Josh Groban concert. Her live solo performance in addition to her backgrounds for Groban were mesmerizing. I purchased this album to see if it was as enjoyable as her live work, and I was not disappointed. Micarelli performs a good mix of classical and pop pieces. My favorite tracks on the album are Smarkland, Meditation, Lady Grinning Soul, Portrait, and Nocturne/Bohemian Rhapsody.

This CD is very well done. I was familiar with old favorites and delighted with new songs. I would like to hear more of the rock songs preformed by her. I think she's got a lot of talent and could possibly do well with the rock songs on a future album.
