Disappointed November 6, 2007 My daughter typically loves the Baby Einstein series, but this one "Words Around the House" does not interest her very much. The ASL isn't repetitive enough to really teach first time learners (even with mom helping.) She just wasn't stimulated by the pictures and the pace. Also, I find it highly irritating that I have to fast forward through at least 6 advertisements to get to the main menu.
Very good for 15 mo old to 2 yrs October 26, 2007 This is my daughter's favorite. I agree with the other reviewers that it is slower moving, and I actually don't think it would hold the attention of a 9 month old. Ellis is 18 months. Now that Ellie is really expanding her vocabulary, she can say and recognize every word on this DVD, including Blanket,Table, Bowl, Refrigerator (fridge-er-er), Bed, Computer (puter).
Ellie feels so empowered when she recognizes objects around the house, and these objects are ones she sees often, unlike objects on the farm video.
Not against signing, of course, but video is boring October 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have to add my voice to those who have written that this is one boring video. Our 20-month old enjoys BE videos, and usually asks to watch one before bedtime each night. Baby MacDonald is his favorite, with Baby Mozart a close second, and Baby Beethoven and Baby Van Gogh tied for third.
This video held his attention for oh, about 5 minutes! It's NOT because of the signing, not at all. Rather, the animation is very boring, there is very limited puppetry, and it's very slow paced.
I'd recommend lots of other videos in this series, just not this one very enthusiastically.
Terrible -- don't buy it. September 23, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This DVD is too slow moving. It doesn't hold my child's attention. Buy Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Neptune, Numbers Nursery, Neighborhood Animals or Noah instead.
Baby Wordsworth August 9, 2007 This video has the usually good graphics and music you would expect from Baby Einstein. I bought it for my 7 month old. At the time she wasn't very interested, but now at 9 months she seems to enjoy it more with each repeated viewing. Even though some of the ideas are still a bit advanced for her, I believe it is good exposure for things she will be exploring as she crawls and begins to walk. This language video is great for children.
