1 out of 5 stars Boring - Confusing Signs - No Music - Dry - Child Hates It   July 23, 2005

Let's just say it is no Signing Time! And worse, it's not even a decent Baby Einstein. There is very little music. There is only a little narration. Though I adore Marlee Matlin, she is a little wooden in this video. There is only one other person signing, the same child all the way through and she looks about 7 or 8. Each sign is repeated twice. I know there are many different signs for many different words, but they are often different from the ASL I am teaching my daughter. At first, I thought they were trying to make the signs more intuitive for toddlers. Then came "puzzle" and "blocks" both of which were also different from the signs I learned, and both of which were VERY complex for small children. This video does not hold my child's interest at all. She would happily sit for 3 hours and watch all 6 Signing Time! videos back-to-back if I let her, but did not make it through 5 minutes of this before running off to play.

5 out of 5 stars Great Buy! Another great addition to Baby Einstein   July 22, 2005

I LOVE this DVD!! I have almost all of the Baby Einstein DVDs, and for those of you who have not become believers, I swear that these are a godsend as it has been my only sanity saver since having a child... They are the ONLY thing that will calm down my collicky baby, who is now 6 months old, and still very fussy. I put her in her "swing" and pop a Baby Einstein in and *presto!* I have 50 minutes of free time. (This only works through 1 DVD... then she's done...)

The colors and puppets are fun. I love the cat & the mice in this DVD. The sign language is pretty cool too. The only thing I'd say, agreeing with some of the other reviewers, is that this is definitely for an older Einstein crowd - like 12-18 months old. My baby liked parts of it, but eventually got bored. I still suggest getting it however. You won't be disappointed.

(My only gripe is with Disney for the LONG commercials they have at the beginning of these Baby Einsteins for Disney products - even babies can't escape commercials!! I wish Disney wouldn't use their products as advertising propoganda... Mickey Mouse, can you hear me?)

4 out of 5 stars Educational for sure ...   July 21, 2005

Excellent job, very much for the 1+ crowd though - I think 14 mos olds thru 2 1/2 year olds will love it. My 10 month old was not as enthralled as normal, much more time spent teaching the signs rather than puppet shows, thus, its different enough from other BE DVDs to warrant a purchase. My 3 year old watched with and was fascinated by the signing. The bonus materials are great too. The DVD I bought had a bonus Disney preview DVD of the Little Einstein series coming up in October 2005 attached to it - that series looks really, really good. Also, I agree with the other reviewer that the music on Woodsworth is soothing and music box-y, but in a good way. I am so glad for Baby Einstein, it is a lifesaver in our house!

5 out of 5 stars Cute and Educational   July 20, 2005

I was really looking forward to the next Baby Einstein and I'm not dissappointed. My daughter loved the cat puppet and smiled so much I played it again. The sign language parts are fun, and I feel like I am learning something too! The music reminds me of a music box, and it is calming (which is very welcome in my household!). I think this one is comparable to Numbers Nursery, which my sister gave me because her son loved it so much. My 17 month old daughter loves that one, and Baby Wordsworth seems like a winner too.

2 out of 5 stars Review of Baby Wordsworth   July 19, 2005

I just watched the video with my son and he is a big fan of Baby Einstein Videos. This is the only video that did not hold his interest. There are alot less puppet time in the video. The video goes through the rooms of your house and reads the name of the common words in that room and they do sign language in it. It is definately educational but he started to walk away from the tv. I probably would not buy it if I had the opportunity to review it.
