Extraordinary music from a visionary film October 30, 2007 I knew the first time I saw The Fountain (and since then there have been many viewings) that I'd have to track down this score. It's haunting, mesmerizing, beautiful, melancholy, magickal and dreamlike...very much like the film. I love to play this on the weekends when I drive up to visit friends in the mountains, it's great road music. I can honestly say that I've never heard anything quite like it and I only wish there were more tracks or that they were longer. But it does contain every bit of melody and music from the film, from all three stories, so if you fell in love with the unique sound you won't be disappointed. I thought the cardboard case was a bit on the cheapskate side, but I suspect that this was all done on a modest budget, since it wasn't exactly a big money project or even a sleeper hit. Too bad, because from the script to the cast to the direction and music, this is all incredible, awe inspiring work.
intoxicating October 25, 2007 The music is so gorgeous, it makes the movie seem all that more beautiful and romantic. The soundtrack gives the feeling of an inspiration of hope--especially important to us who feel that they're living in dark times. Sometimes the soundtrack is invigorating, sometimes melancholy, but always soothing to my soul-- and to anyone who loves life and chooses to see the beauty in the world around them.
A Story of Melodies October 22, 2007 Every song in this soundtrack was played, at one point or another, in the film. They all revolve around certain melodies or tunes but somehow manage to distinguish themselves from one another beautifully.
I love the film and possibly adore the soundtrack even more. Once you listen to the songs, all you can think about is the movie and the incredible story and imagery. The songs have the ability to transport you into another feeling, mood, train of thought. I consider this one of the most amazing soundtracks I've ever heard, on par with Lord of the Rings and Titanic soundtracks.
Like most people my age, I hardly ever buy music but I felt that I needed to buy this CD and I do not regret it at all.
My suggestion, even if you didn't like the movie (shame on you), is that you should buy the soundtrack nonetheless. Wonderful buy, trust me.
Incredibly moving... September 14, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just rented this movie and as moved as I was by the story, the acting, the incredible directing, I was moved to tears by the music. It was the most beautiful, haunting achingly plaintive score to a movie I have ever heard. This CD is a must have.
Absolutely Amazing! August 29, 2007 After hearing Requiem for Dream, I instantly became a fan of Mansell and Kronos. With beautiful melodies and an almost dark allure, this soundtrack is no exception. Its absolutely amazing. I have listened to this cd everyday since I bought it about 3 weeks ago. Its highly addictive, and a great addition to any soundtrack collection.
Highly Recommended for anyone into MUSIC at all. Great product.
