Love the movie, you'll love the music. August 23, 2007 I loved the movie a lot and was so impressed with the music. You won't be disappointed with the CD.
moved August 6, 2007 My first viewing of this film had me wanting a rational explanation for the plot, symbolic imagery, and the scientific basis for the science fiction part of it, i.e. medical research and mode of space travel. I'm not one to totally diss a movie just because I don't understand it. The soundtrack however made it clear to me that this movie leaves that an open-ended question given certain factual inaccuracies. It evokes deep emotion and suggests a quest for something lost or unattainable. The haunting melody and ambiance still resonates in my mind in the midst of dull everyday reality.

The haunting, stunning score to Aronofsky's "The Fountain" is the best film score of 2006, no matter who they gave the Oscar too. I am still heartsick that this, the best score I've heard since "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" -- and the one of only two that I've purchased since then -- was completely ignored by the Academy.
If you haven't seen the movie, listening to the score might not move you in the same way. But I can assure you that if you have, hearing this music on its own is the perfect way to recapture the intense joy and sorrow evoked by the film's sublime imagery without subjecting yourself to the sorrow that seeing Hugh Jackman weep for his wife can induce. The only complaint I have to make about this product is its packaging. It's in a slim cardboard cover instead of the usual plastic casing that a CD comes in, which means that if you line up your CDs as I do, instead of just sticking them into a wallet, it kind of disappears into the rest of the CDs. But that's certainly not enough for me to remove any stars from this perfect, gorgeous work of art.

The other day I watched this movie on PAY PER VIEW and thought it was utter garbage. One thing that did stick out was the amazing music score by Clint Mansell. The music is very melancholy but very beautiful. I recommend this to anyone who likes this type of music.

This soundtrack is amazing. The songs are so beautifully composed. I saw the movie and the same night bought the album. Some of the tracks bring me close to tears. I can't stop listening to this soundtrack! It's a must have for anyone who appreciates powerful instrumentals.
