4 out of 5 stars Mostly great!!   January 9, 2007
My husband and I are in the minority of those who do not celebrate the holidays. However, we are big "All My Children" fans. When we watched the making of this CD on Soapnet, we knew we had to have it. Most of the singers and their songs were terrific. But a few were simply outstanding!

Vincent Irizarry sang a blues version of "Please Come Home for Christmas" and his voice just blew us away! Susan Lucci - wow! She sang "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and we had no idea she had such a beautiful voice. Eden Reigel's rendition of "Santa Baby" was adorable. She has the perfect voice and range for this song. Surprisingly, there was only one singer who didn't do justice to her song, but I will be polite and not mention her name because I have heard her sing other songs and I do love her voice. She just picked a song that didn't work for her voice this time. But out of an entire CD, only one didn't work. Not bad! This CD is well worth the money!

1 out of 5 stars Not terrible but...   December 27, 2006

Some nice moments but the CD lacks alot of the Good Will, Spirit and Fun of Soap Sessions Stuff-who had been doing these CDs for years. This one then winds up with such a knock-off feel to it. Of course , with Buena Vista behind it, naturally it's probably slicker-read: they had a bigger budget, but that's what I mean-the Soap Sessions stuff was so fan friendly (their website had live chats and updates, while the CDs were being recorded)they just had such a great vibe. Then there's the 'Making Of...' video-It just all seems so pretentious. To hear comments like 'Oh what a great idea to record a Soap CD' made me giggle...or when they did the Silent Night Duet with Kathy Brier and Ignacio Serricchio-Soap Sessions ALREADY DID THAT with a breath-taking version of Silent Night with Nadia Bjorlin (who sang in Swedish) and Kevin Spirtas. Not to mention the 'group sing' 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' had also been done before. The whole CD has a 'been there, done that'feel. In the aforementioned Soap Sessions 'Updates' ...they were always so UNpretentious. Their stories were of how really easy it was to have several folks go in to the studio on the same day. The stars seemed to go out of their way to make themselves very 'unbusy' sounding. Roark Critchlow and McKenzie Westmore actually used to update their fans daily on their boards! No pretense about clocks ticking, busy producers and how the fans are almost lucky, that these incredible people were able to allow us to hear it. I swear to you I'm not being cynical , I'm just being honest, I just hate when a simple fun thing gets all 'dressed up' as something it's not. This is just another Christmas CD.

There was a small sentence saying what I asked for. But I thought it was going to be something I could put on when I wrapped the gift. It can't be used that way. I guess I should have been more specific on what I wanted done.

I love cd so much!!! I just bought, and I can't believe that these people have such good voices! I am a huge fan of both "All My Children" and "General Hospital," so I had to buy this cd. Although I am not a fan of "One Life to Live," the singers are excellent as well! I am just so happy that Susan Lucci, Eden Riegel, Bobbie Eakes are on this cd, for they are my favorites on AMC. The only bad comment I have to say is towards Amazon, not this cd. On the songs list, you guys have number eight, Joy to the World, sung by "Bobbie Lakes," but her last name is "Eakes." Bobbie Eakes. I just want her to get all the credit for that beautiful song! This cd was utterly fantastic!
