great album! June 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was never a huge fan of Jack Johnson until I saw him performing at the Coachella Festival 2008. After that, I bought this album and just listened to it for days. I'm more of a rock and electronica listener, but Jack's soft voice and his beautiful lyrics just made me fall in love with this album. The more you listen to this, the more you will love it. Now, I own all of his albums, and am still listening to his music avidly. It's a great buy. See him in concert, he performs great live!
Jack Johnson is fantastic June 19, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic disk...only made better when you see him live. Yes, he can get a little preachy, but outside of that this is a great chill album from a terrific artist. More mature than previous work - includes some great jazz piano riffs, harmonica, etc.
Jack's losing it June 14, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is not at all what I expected from jack johnson. it really is disappointing, but overall still listen-able.
Not as good as his previous ones May 28, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love Jack Johnson. I live in California and have seen him in concert four times (twice in Hawaii - that's how much I love(d) his music). This cd was disappointing - mellow to the point of boring. I love his mellow, yet catchy tunes -- this just didn't seem like his style of music.
every song in 4 quarter beat--every song, same song May 23, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Yikes, how boring. You can speed it up or slow it down but his same riffs and that impossible-to-ignore 4 beat rythymn will about put my 'lil babes to sleep. I guess it's good for that; not so much for the active mind. All his songs are the same song. Anybody else really annoyed about that?
