Good songwriter, not big on variety though April 17, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'd like to hear more variety on the CD....he can write songs all day long...but after a while it kind of blends in. Talented no question, just like to hear a bit of a leap on the production. Check out the 7 CD by Poi Dog Pondering for a shinning example of variety. Highly recomended7

I'm a Jack Johnson fan, and this album, while branching out in his subject matter, and the same beautiful style and was thoroughly enjoyable. I have listened frequently since my purchase
Great CD April 15, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm a big fan of Jack Johnson, and was super excited to ge this latest CD. Although it's not my favorite of his and I was slightly disappointed, it's a great CD to pop in and listen to as background music.
Awesome April 14, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I hear Jack and I feel relaxed, happy; the kind of music without any special effects, without exaggerations, that makes you feel good. Just feel good. I also love the fact that he has this enviromental view, the album was recorded with 100% solar energy wich says a lot about Jack and the way he sees life, earth and music. Get it, you won't regret it.

I like everything I've heard by jack Johnson, however I liked his previous releases more due to the variety of the tempo and type of music. Most of his previous material varied from folk-reggae to acoustic funk folk to surfer/calypso with a solid bossanova foundation, which made a unique blend with a fresh and enlightened perspective. This release seems to back off the variety and concentrate on the songwriting...I still like it a lot, I just miss the "staple it together" more uptempo selections! Hopefully his next release will provide a mix more in line with the hard rythmn/laid back approach. After all its the highs and lows that inspire desire!
