WHERE HAVE I BEEN???? August 7, 1999 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I love good music -- especially jazz vocals. I just bought this album, and I am about to die. It is one of the best -- if not the best jazz vocal album I own (and I own tons of music). Her range is extreme (almost impossible), from a deep, almost baritony sound to the highest soprano chirp. Rachelle can scat, sing ballad, create emotion; she is the best. BUY IT!!!!!P.S. I thought I would never find anyone to match the greatness of the vocalists of the past (Sarah, Nancy, Ella);Rachelle is that person....
Ripe-voiced, dynamically touching, smooth delivery May 31, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Rachelle Ferrell is THE artist, be the perimeters jazz or rhythm-n-blues. Her vocal talent transcend the norm as she flow through octaves like a hot knife through creamy butter. This CD is a must for Jazz, Pop and R&B fans alike. Her mature voice will find its way into your daily playlist, promising perfect nights to come.
UNBEATABLE, UNCOMPARABLE December 14, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Rachelle is superb. Everytime she comes to town, her show is a must see for me. At her last show she announced a new album. So far her 2nd topped her first, but it's so hard to believe that its possible. She dazzles and moves you with her multi-octive vocals. She is also such a real person. She came out into the audience & shook hands, I was extremely impressed with her, her music and her voice.
Magnificent! September 8, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Rachelle is my favorite Jazz/R&B musician. Isay musician instead of vocalist because she has outgrown the term. Her talent speaks for itself. This CD is great but, you have to hear her live to really appreciate her talent.
Excellent Album September 2, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you have seen this sister in concert - her live performance speaks for itself. If you are a jazz fan who loves vocals - BUY IT!!!! You will not be disappointed. I have never heard any vocalist to this day who can match Rachelle Ferrell. I would give this album 5 million stars if it was possible. Her remake of Autumn Leaves is absolutely my favorite remake of any song - ever.
