4 out of 5 stars Utterly Amazing   February 12, 2002

I'm sure I should go back and listen to the original verions of these pieces reinterpreted by Orbit, but for the moment I am spellbound by what he has done with them. I can tell this is a cd that will stay in regular rotation for me, particularly in my office, where its soothing effect is a big help. I know purists may decry Orbit's reinterpretations, but perhaps they will lead people to discover the original works. In the meantime, this is a wonderful musical gift. I will definitely seek out more of Orbit's work.

5 out of 5 stars Best ambient work   October 29, 2001

Anyone who says that this isn't good, just doesn't know what good is. The two reviews at the top, are worthless and don't believe what they say. The whole idea of music is the fact that it changes in style and texture, and over a period of time, it's not dificult to find that certain re-workings can improve the quality of the song. ALL of the songs on this album are fantastic to say the least. This is by far - The most relaxing yet totaly obtainable cd to listen to. You don't have to be tired to listen to this, it's a great cd to have on any time. Some of the outstanding pieces are: John Cage- In a Landscape; Piece in old style 1 & 3; and the whole rest of the cd! You are a musical twit if you over look this cd, simply for the fact that they are re-workings of great classical pieces. This is by far, an oustanding achievement in the field of electronic/re-worked music, and music period!

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   September 8, 2001

I got this CD thinking it would be as good as Best of Strange Cargos. Unfortunately this album is a waste of time. It actually depresses me because it fills my head with white noise. It your to spend the money, get a Strange Cargos CD.

If you want to know how to turn great, elegant melodies that still communicates over generations into shopping mall music, listen to this.

5 out of 5 stars missed fanbase?   July 30, 2001

I am strangly conserned by the sheer amount of reviews for an ambient electonic Cd. Seriously Maybe William Orbit would have been better off with a new moniker to release this wonderful album under. I think the Aphex Twin (selected ambient) croud would have understood this album much better. I certainly was amazed by the greatness of this. All this talk about killing the original songs is just annoying since its not like Orbits was trying to get the original songs off the market. Relax ...! the originals are still available to be listened to regardless of who remakes them! Seriously this is a wonderful ambient album and its hard to find decent ambient albums that aren't muddled with constant over production and wannabe "trip" images. Further more every single [one] who relied with someting like "its been done" should be shot. Cause its not like decent ambient electonic versions of classical songs are a dime a dozen. A quit using the term "pop" when describing this style of music. ...
