3 out of 5 stars Let There Be Light?   October 24, 2007

Well Chauvet does have a Lifetime Warranty on this product.*

Chauvet produces quality products, however they left out some important features...

-No On/Off Switch
-No Rhythm Mode (Flashes On Beat)

But it's still a Strobe and Flashes like one. The only control YOU have is plugging it in (which makes the light flash instantly). Also, there is a Pace Control - in which you can control how rapid the flashes reappear.

I bought my friend a strobe for $9.99 @ KB Toys a few years back that had: On/Off Switch, Rhythm Mode, Color Film (for changing colors [clear, blue, green, red]), Pace Control. So if this strobe is still out there for the same $$$ I'd recommend it.

Well choice is yours!

THE AFTERMATH:

So I already wrote this review, but since then (only the 3rd time plugging this mini strobe in) the strobe light blew.

Chauvet does not offer replacement bulbs, however, after I contacted Chauvet through emails, they sent me a brand new 1 free of charge.

The Chauvet CH-730 Mini Strobe Light is an inexpensive novelty item. If used to spice up Halloween or to add a special effect to a home party, it will do the job, but by no means should this be considered useful as a stage tool or lighting effect in a professional application. The 35 watt bulb emits enough light to give an effect without causing headaches and convulsions, (good for home use) but is not bright enough to light a stage or large room. The unit could also use an on/off switch as the only means of turning it off is by unplugging the unit. At the price, it does what it is supposed to do, but consider your needs before making an investment. You might need to spend a little to a lot more if being used professionally.

4 out of 5 stars Cheap, but a fun toy.   September 24, 2007

It is a fun, inexpensive toy for amazing your kids by stopping a ceiling fan. It seems kind of cheap for professional use, but that isn't what I bought it for. It is good for the price.

4 out of 5 stars Not Bad for the Price   May 14, 2007

This mini strobe works well. Just a little weak, which you would expect at that low price. If you want a good strobe effect, you'll need to use several. We are mobile DJs and use four of them placed between par cans along the top of our light truss and it creates a nice strobe effect that is not overpowering. As with any strobe, you'll want the par cans off to get the the classis "strobe" effect, but the four strobes even look good wth the par cans on. As long as you use several at a time, this is a nice "extra" for any dance floor setup. The only negative is that Chauvet did not make the mounting hole big enough to use standard light truss hardware. Another mini strobe we own made by another company has the standard bigger mounting hole. It's not a huge deal...you just have to buy different screws to mount them, but if Chauvet would fix this little detail, they'd be perfect.

Great for a small 16x16 party room. It does not have an on and off switch so I plugged it into a remote module in the A/C outlet. Now I just use the remote control to turn it on and off depending which song I want to use it with. Works great.
