Same price as most stands but better quality April 23, 2007 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
I had looked at numerous stands for my Yamaha keyboard and didn't want to spend a ton of money for a professional grade stand (at professional prices). With that in mind, the Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand is a good choice at $29.99. I had seen other stands that were not as sturdy (single X stands)and cost about the same price.
Tips for assembly: - Don't read the instructions, just look at the enlarged image of the keyboard stand on Amazon and assemble the stand the way it's shown. - The bolts for attaching the arms and legs come screwed in to the stand. Use the (included )Allen Wrench to remove them and then re-install them when you are putting it together.
PROS: - Low price. - Solid, sturdy stand. - Works for just about any keyboard. - The stand's height is fully adjustable, and can be easily changed in several seconds - without having to unscrew anything.
CONS: - There is no way to attach a keyboard to this stand. No screws, bolts or straps are included, even though most (including my Yamaha) keyboards have pre-drilled holes for screwing the board to a stand. The keyboard simply sits on top of the stand. I was VERY disappointed about this. - The included Allen wrench did not work for one of the bolts. The bolt came screwed in to the stand way too tightly to be removed using the included tool. The Allen Wrench only stripped the bolt, it did not loosen it. Luckily my husband had a better Allen Wrench of nearly identical size, and that one worked. Without it, we would not have been able to loosen the bolt.
good, inexpensive stand March 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This keyboard stand is exactly what I expected it to be -- relatively easy to assemble (although, there is room for improvement in the instructions), sturdy, lightweight and portable.
The only downside to this stand (and I imagine any X-style stand) is that the legs force me to sit a few inches further from the keyboard than I would like. I suspected this would be a problem, but it is not as bad as I expected. Nevertheless, I always feel the need to scoot in another two inches when I first sit down to play.
Nice little stand March 22, 2007 I received this when I purchased the YPT-300. It was a little confusing as to how to assemble it, but once together, it's a pretty sturdy stand. The picture instructions are horrible. I had to come to this page to figure out that the screws were already in the posts. We just got it together & haven't had long term experience with it yet, but so far, so good.
Nice stand February 25, 2007 I have a pretty heavy synth keyboard and this stand does the job well. Does not shake or rock. Pretty sturdy. I agree the directions arent that good but it really isnt hard to put together at all. Quality stand.
Good Luck Assembling It February 24, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought the Yamaha YPT-300AD keyboard and this stand was recommended as an accessory. IT DOES NOT FIT.
Next point is assembling it. I've assembled many desks, drawers, etc. But I struggled a LOT with this. The directions (or lack of) do not help at all. It is not intuitive and is rather difficult to put together.
AVOID this stand and you'll thank me later
