5 out of 5 stars Great stand for the money!   February 19, 2007
Elegant design, sturdy construction. Supports my Yamaha SY35 securely. After reading the forbidding reviews I decided to assemble it without first reading the directions. It took me 10 min.

Lightweight and sturdy, very easy to assemble (took my 10 years old son about 10 minutes to put it together).

3 out of 5 stars Assembly's not as easy as it could be but a good product   February 8, 2007

If I had not read the other reviews and tips, I also would have found this baby tough to assemble using the sketchy instructions. But standing on the shoulders of giants, this 60-year old woman was able to assemble the unit in about a half hour. It's true that the keyboard doesn't lock in sturdily, but that's because of the adjustability of the stand, which is a great feature for me, since I wanted to sit down at the keyboard. I did put it against a wall for greater stability, and I don't bang away at my keyboard. If you're getting this for your rocker grandson, it might not work, but for gentle use, considering the light weight, adjustability, and great price ($29.99 with free Amazon Prime shipping -- and it came in one day) it's a great deal.

2 out of 5 stars Doesn't match well with my YPT-300 keyboard   January 26, 2007

I got this stand as a kind of "freebie" when I purchased the excellent YPT-300 keyboard. At first I was baffled by the lack of instructions and the apparent lack of attachment screws. By reading another of the reviews here in Amazon I learned that the screws arrive inserted into the bottoms of the "X" pieces. Thanks to the person who pointed this out, as it isn't intuitively obvious even to those of us long accustomed to putting together small mechanical devices for our children.

I managed to figure out the proper hex key wrench to remove the screws and then quickly put together the keyboard stand. Once you have all of the pieces and the proper tool it's not rocket science. However, it soon became apparent that the stand isn't really made for my model keyboard. If you line the keyboard up directly on the stand it rocks back and forth. The only way to get it to stay put is to angle it a bit, which looks kind of odd And there's a constant danger that someone will knock the keyboard right off of the stand onto the floor. Someone suggested a double-velcro strategy--not bad! But this is a makeshift solution that can only partly mask the fact that the stand was never really designed for the keyboard I own. I'd love to know what reasonably inexpensive stand would work better than this one.
