Great unit. March 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Main question: is it loud enough? Answer: yes.
While it wont host a party for 200 at the beach (open air)... it's plenty for house parties, pool/jacuzzi parties, etc.
The XLR mic attachment is great for a wireless mic setup. I tossed the included mic and cable, and used my own wireless mic. The iPod doc is great. The battery life if superb. It rolls. It's solid. and it fit in the overhead bin of a Continental airlines plane :)
Cons: no case, no cover, no protection for the buttons. the expandable handle arrived with a kink in it, which made it difficult to open/close, but i was able to adjust that with a pair of pliers. The expandable handle is a bit weak, and since it's on the outside of the unit, it makes it a bit more difficult to stick under the seat on an airplane.
You probably guessed i bought this unit to travel... i did. I'm fairly happy with it's portability, but it was not made for flights... its a nice coincidence that the measurements, weight, and roller capabilities match airline restrictions. I'd be happier if it were airline portable, and had a case or protective covering (for when it needs to be checked).
All in all, I've found the unit to be very useful, and I'm happy enough with it to buy another, recommend it, and write this review.

This item works better as an iPod dock than as a PA system. Although it comes with a serious mic (not a toy), the amp and speakers do not clearly project high fidelity the purported half a football field in either use. Otherwise, it meets all other claims. The case and hardware are solidly built; the autonomous rechargeable feature is great for picnics, camping, yard work, etc. and its strong point is its flexibility for a unit this size. This is a fine system for casual use; however, I would not recommend it for professional musicians or karaoke-ers.

This PA system works well and the battery lasted as long as advertised, about 6 hours. The volume carried clearly across an open field. The music also sounds pretty good when played on high volume. With the extra input options, my son also uses it as a portable amp for his guitar. One small complaint...It would be handy if it had a remote for the ipod player like other ipod speakers. This would allow me pause the player during baseball practice when we need to stop for verbal instructions.

I am using this item as a PA system for wedding ceremonies and it had been ideal. I own a DJ service and many times I am asked to provide music for the ceremony and reception. This is perfect for ceremony and rehearsals without having to set up a complete outfit. It ran on a charge at medium volume(master and ipod vol)for nearly 48 hours. Good value
iPA03 Portable PA October 27, 2007 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I was looking for a portable speaker to drive my iPod loud enough to be heard in an open hangar. I read a review of the iPA03 in the 9/15/07 Seattle Times and it looked like this would work. I searched on line and found it listed at Best Buy. I was hoping to try it, and pick it up and go. But it had been listed out of stock for some time with no idea when they could get it. I tried Amazon and immediately found it in stock and ordered. It arrived within 2 days and also delivered more then I expected. *It was cheaper then at Best Buy. *It provides a rich full sound for the iPod. I also tried a portable CD played in the RCA plugs and it sounds great. *It also charges the iPod when it powered by AC. (it also runs on a self container battery.) *The karaoke function is and added bonus that's a lot of fun to play with. Just que up the song and back down the volume on the iPod input crank up your volume and you are singing with the stars. *It's fairly solid, over 40 lbs on wheels with an airport styled wheelies toater pop up handle. *It also has a plug in to use as a guitar amp. *The mike could be used as a PA for meetings, playing harmonica with the music or an anywhere speaker system.
On the needs improvement side the white case is almost too nice looking. I don't know how long I can keep it looking that way in our hangar. I wish it also came in black. It wouldn't show the dirt. The directions/instructions are worthless. I saved the review from the Seattle Times 9/15/07 and it was more helpful exploring all the things this unit does.
Overall, I highly recommend this item. It does so many things, and does them well.
